Fourth Grade Artifacts

Here are thinking routines that were done in our fourth grade classrooms.


Students debated their thoughts while discussing the issue of trophies...should every player receive one? The emphasis for the lesson was on recognizing the thoughts of other people before sharing one's own thoughts. Watch the video and hear the thoughts of one fourth grade class. 

Fourth grade used the thinking routine; Sentence, Word, Phrase with our Social Studies chapter on the Northeast region. Students met with a partner and were asked to discuss what they chose and explain how these particular ideas connected to the big idea of the section they read.
